This is a “classic” drive in. And by that, we mean large, simple but well prepared and tasty hamburgers, fries, milkshakes, and all the other standard items found on drive in menus over the years. So don’t go expecting sushi burgers with kale on top, grilled yam fries, and jimanabumbo juice. Although Dorothy noticed how little salt was in the burgers, a sign that health consciousness is present even here.
Proportion warning: The Dawsons are big eaters. This is simply a fact of nature. So we arrived at Inglewood Drive In with a certain sense of swagger. We ordered double burgers, and large fries, and large milk sakes. Bad idea! We were stuffed for the next twelve hours. It’s good we didn’t add Dole Whip cones to the order as a friend had suggested, or we would surely have experienced a Monty Python food explosion.

A coworker took me here a couple of years ago. When they asked if I wanted onions on my burger, i asked if they were fried. She looked behind her and said, “We’re not busy—sure, they can be fried!” It’s THAT kind of burger joint.   Jim T G
