Oh my! This was Shawn’s favourite restaurant, and this was made evident on this page with a 9 glass rating. Naturally Shawn picked Model Milk for his birthday celebration. Thus the disappointment began. We decided before we went that this would be a “clean slate review”. In other words, because we hadn’t been there for a while, rather than treating this as a re-visit and just adding our score to the running average, we would start fresh. So we have a fall from the previous 9 to a 4.5. Why? Well, it started with a changed menu from which many of our favourites like the waffles and fried chicken had disappeared to be replaced by a largely meatocentric menu with vegetables on the side, reminiscent of so many other restaurants today. We chose the special, and were greeted with a tasteless chunk of wagyu beef with a few bland vegetables thrown over the top. Dorothy’s dish was also "just okay". That meal would have rated a 5, but the high price pushed our figure down to a 4.5. We were all sad. We should go back to be sure that this was not just a bad blip on an otherwise rather excellent record, but that visit will be some time in the undesignated future, as currently none of us want to return.
Good vegetarian selection.

And by the way, the strange name comes from the fact that the restaurant is housed in part of the former Model Milk Dairy building that most of us remember best in more recent years as the home of Victoria's Restaurant and other celebrations of all things queenish.
