Over the years, we have referred to several restaurants as “hidden gems” or “out of the way”, usually describing small, frequently overlooked establishments. Ajito, however, is actually “hidden". Yes, the Coke machine pictured above is the front door. So when you arrive at the address above you will find yourself at Sho Sushi. But don’t blame your GPS, just go in boldly, and you will be shown through Sho into an intimate Japanese speakeasy offering some excellent dishes. We enjoyed the meal thoroughly. But we did find the small multi-page menu difficult to navigate. There are shared tapas and large main dishes from all areas of Japanese cuisine, giving one quite a variety of choices. But we had trouble measuring just how much and for how many we were ordering. We would suggest looking at the menu on line before your visit, and perhaps asking the staff for insights. But do go, and enjoy your meal.

The restaurant itself is wheelchair friendly, and the Sho washrooms certainly are, but you may have trouble getting a standard wheelchair through the “door”.  Next time we’ll take a tape measure with us and check it out.

Good vegetarian selection.

Reservations recommended.
