Yes, I know the name—"Mountain/River Restaurant” in Mandarin—doesn’t sound like a traditional Chinese restaurant name, but this certainly is one. The space is simple, bright and modern. The staff are friendly. And, as for the menu, it has what seems like 10,000 items from the familiar to the "Let’s-try-this,-it-may-be-fun". By the way, the menu is QR code only as you order from your phone, but I would suppose they have a house device if you don’t own one. And each member of your crew can make selections from their own phone, as the items will be put together for the table using digital magic. We enjoyed the food very much, and the helpings are large. This time we stayed in the “familiar” column to give us a basis for comparison. But we certainly will return to explore a little. Our only concern was that the large menu means that there was a certain subtle “manufactured" feeling in the background. The chicken for dish one and dish two, for example, would  traditionally have been cut differently, but here they seem to have come from the same batch. And the little extras on the servings seem to have been cut back—for example the lettuce under the lemon chicken had been eliminated. In general, the subtle artisan touches were missing. We do admit that the scrolling of the menu took a bit of getting used to as by the time you get down a screen or two you may begin to forget what has already passed. Now we suppose you can just put every interesting dish in your cart and then sort things out from there, but we did not want to risk ordering 20 dishes by mistake. Overall, it’s a great experience, well worth trying.
