Seldom do we give a restaurant in the "General" category a 5, because, by definition, their food is general and therefore usually rather ordinary. However, when we finished our meal at the Saskatoon Berry Farm we asked, "What could they have done better?" And we couldn't think of anything, so here is their ten. This rambling eatery is located in a garden/nursery, nicknack centre east of Okotoks, just a pleasant drive from Calgary. The food is amazingly eclectic. For example, breakfast is served until noon; then the main menu comes life. They have all the customary salads, soups and sides, but done simply and properly. For example, try the reuben. Most place seem to be involved in some kind of contest to see how much meat they can sell you; here they have just the right balance between meat and the other vital ingredients, making the sandwich perfect. Then they go wild with Mexican dishes. I tried the quesadillas. Again a winner, not smothered in cheese and blasted in the microwave, but enhanced with fresh toppings and cooked properly. But remember whatever you choose to leave room for dessert; after all you came here for saskatoons, and should enjoy them in home-made pie and ice cream.

And they have special events and markets happening throughout the year.

Good vegetarian selection.
